Registration relief for farmers

To give farmers and their families some much needed drought relief we’re waiving registration charges on Class 1 agricultural vehicles at the time of their next annual registration.

Frequently asked questions

What is a Class 1 agricultural vehicle?
A Class 1 agricultural vehicle has its own automotive power and is built to perform agricultural tasks. These include:
   * Tractors
   * Tractors - tracked
   * Self propelled brooms
   * Fertiliser spreaders
   * Combine harvesters
   * Cotton picker/harvesters
   * Crop sprayers - self-propelled
   * Harvesters - full track
   * Harvesters - rubber-tyred

Am I eligible?
The measures are intended to give relief to farmers. The waiver of registration fees applies to new registrations and renewals of Class 1 agricultural vehicles that are oversize and/or overmass.

You will need to complete a declaration which supports the fact that you are a farmer with a Class 1 agricultural vehicle and have been impacted by the drought.

Are trailers included?
Class 1 agricultural trailers that are towed by an agricultural vehicle do not require registration.

Class 1 agricultural trailers that are not towed by an agricultural vehicle require registration. These trailers are not eligible for the waiver.

Does this apply to light vehicles?
Light vehicles are not eligible.

What other support is available?
