New ways of getting better at old things - When you look at it, what we grow in Farming doesn't change too much. Like growing Wheat, Wool, Beef, Sugar, etc, we have been doing it for years. It's how we go about getting better at it that changes.
Things like Chemicals, Fertilisers and Auto-Steer changed Wheat Growing. Mechanical Shearing has changed Wool Growing. EBVs have changed the Beef industry. The list goes on.
Another example of getting better is the Towards 90 (T90) program for Sheep Breeding. The aim of the T90 program is to target and achieve 90 percent plus Lamb survival rates. In the past, we have made the focus on scanning results, but a lot can change between then and Weaning.
So these Sheep Breeders, through T90, are all learning new skills, learning off each other (Farmers teaching Farmers) in the hope of getting better at one particular function that will help propel their businesses to greater profitability. Lamb's weaned is a known profit driver in the Sheep Breeding industry. So anyone can now learn how to get better at managing the process through this period. How good is that.... This is how we find new ways to get better at old things, like Sheep Breeding.
