Yarding: 35,907

Quality varied throughout the yarding with heavy trade and export categories presented in very good to excellent condition. Light and medium weight ranged from plain to very good, quality dropping over the secondary types. Most of the usual buying group attend with a few absent, store buyers were more active in the lighter weights. The market opened softer and gain some momentum in the lighter weights while the trade categories buyers were selective and erratic at times. Store lambs sold firm to a few $5 dearer, light trade were to $5 softer, medium, and heavy trade $4 to $10/head cheaper. Heavy Export lambs were $7 to $12/head back on last week’s levels.

Lambs back to the paddock under 18kg selling from $49 to $140, and lambs over 18kg made from $125 to $160/head. Lambs to the trade to suit MK orders under 18kg sold from $76 to $134. Lambs to the trade 18-22kg, sold from $123 to $169, Lambs 22-24kg, sold from $162 to $190, Lambs 24-26kg made from $176 to $204/head. Averaging from 680c to 740c/kg cwt. Export 26 to 30kg sold from $205 to $231 and 30kg and over made $233 to $278/head. With an average range 710c to 750c/kg cwt.

Mutton quality improved with more weight offered across the yarding, not all buyers operated in a stronger market, medium and heavy weights sold to $10 dearer in places, light sheep to $5/head dearer. Merino wethers sold $42 to $122, Merino ewes $30 to $130/head and heavy crossbred mutton sold from $70 to $149/head.
