Lamb supply eased slightly to 22,700 penned where the quality was mixed ranging from plain to excellent. Most of the usual buying group attended but not all were fully active. The market started softer with no urgency when bidding to gain momentum as the sale progressed. Lambs in short skins with good fat cover sold dearer in places while the lambs in wool needing finish sold to a softer trend throughout most of the sale. Overall light trade lambs slipped $2 to $5/head while medium trade sold firm to $4 softer and heavy trade lambs gained $2 to $4/head. Heavy export lambs sold to $3/head cheaper and extra heavy over 30kg cwt lambs sold to a top of $298 easing $9/head.

Lambs back to the paddock and to feed on made from $70 to $166 selling to $6 to $8/head softer. Light lambs under 18kg cwt to suit MK orders to the trade sold from $103 to $155 being $10/head cheaper. Trade lambs 18 to 22kg made from $152 to $187, lambs 22 to 24kg sold from $180 to $206, lambs 24 to 26kg made from $194 to $222/head with a wide average range of 780c to 815c/kg cwt. Export lambs 26 to 30kg made from $211 to $243 to average 780c to 800c/kg and over 30kg sold from $236 to $298/head with an average range of 750c to 760c/kg cwt.

Sheep numbers increased to 7,627, the quality was mixed ranging from plain to very good. Buyers were selective when bidding, mutton sold $8 to $25/head cheaper across all categories. Heavy Merino wethers made from $180 to $192 back $24/head to average 660c/kg cwt. Heavy Merino ewes sold from $173 to $210, with an average range of 600c to 620c, and heavy crossbred mutton made from $155 to $210/head to average 590c to 630c/kg cwt.
