Yarding - 27,746

Lamb supply increased to 20,377, quality improved in the trade and export categories with more weight and finish offered. Extra buyers were present in a market that started firm to slightly dearer on the better quality well finished lambs and softer on the lighter plainer trade and store lambs, as the sale progressed bidding competition gained intensity. Light store lambs sold slightly cheaper. Light and medium trade lambs sold $4 to $8 dearer for the better quality and plainer types needing finish were to $8 cheaper in places. Heavy trade sold to $9 stronger while the plainer secondary types were $4 to $8 softer. Heavy export lambs were in better supply and sold to $10/head dearer.

Young light lambs back to the paddock sold from $55 to $159 and feeders paid $155 to $184/head. Young lambs sold to the trade under 18kg from $112 to $143, lambs to the trade 18 to 22kg made from $156 to $204, 22 to 24kg sold from $184 to $223 and 24kg to 26kg made from $205 to $238/head. Heavy export lambs over 26kg sold from $234 to to $270/head. Most lambs were estimated to average range of 810c to 860c/kg cwt. Sheep numbers increased to 7,369, quality was plain to very good. Competition was stronger across the yarding with most categories $5 to $10/head dearer.

A better quality run of Merino wethers with more weight offered, heavy Merino wethers selling from $147 to $185/head. Merino ewes sold from $86 to $165 and heavy crossbred mutton made $135 to $171/head.
