QUEENSLANDER Matilda Pickard has been awarded the 2021 Te Mania Angus Scholarship for first-year Bachelor of Business (Agriculture) studies at Geelong’s Marcus Oldham College.

A $10,000 endowment, the Te Mania Angus Scholarship was established to contribute towards the next generation of agricultural leaders through one of Australia’s leading tertiary agricultural studies program.

Te Mania Angus director Hamish McFarlane said since leaving school in 2018, Matilda has been working on Anna Plains Station, almost one million acres in Western Australia’s Kimberleys, running 18,000 cattle .

He said her commitment to further her knowledge of the agricultural industry and become a part of it at the same time, led her to apply to Marcus Oldham.

Her determination to arm herself with every advantage could be seen in her enrolment at Marcus Oldham and applying for the Te Mania Angus Scholarship.

“This scholarship is just one of the ways Te Mania Angus is giving back to its industry and if any ag student’s first 12 months of study can be made easier with this endowment we are delighted to be able to lend a hand,” Hamish added.

Anyone interested in applying for future Te Mania Angus scholarships should go to marcusoldham.vic.edu.au.

Matilda is the daughter of Farm Tender sales person Mike Pickard.
