Market stronger for Lambs at Ballarat

Yarding - 9057 (+760).
Lambs - 7751 (+1215).
Sheep - 1306 (-455).

Lambs supply was low this week at 7,700. The quality was mixed with a small selection of well finished off grain short skinned lambs offered, again not all the usual buying group were in attendance and were selective. The market was strong to see prices up to $10 to $15 and up to $25/head dearer for the very neat short skinned trade lambs. There was a wide spread in the pricing with trade weight lambs from $158 to$218/head and from 768c to 900c/kg cwt.

Light lambs sold from $79 to $164, feeders and restockers weren’t active today, paying from $99 to $168/head. Trade lambs, 18 to 22kg, sold from $158 to $198/head. Lambs, 22 to 24kg, sold from $188 to $218/head, with a range of 771c to 908c/kg cwt. Lambs, 24 to 26kg, sold from $204 to $217/head. Export score 4 lambs, 26 to 30kg, sold from $205 to $222 and extra heavy export lambs over 30kg types sold from$209 to $229/head.

1,300 sheep were yarded with quality mostly plain and a small selection of heavy Merino wethers on offer reached $173/head. Merino ewes sold from $55 to $167/head. Crossbred ewes sold from $55 to $153/head. Merino wethers sold from $125 to $173/head. Rams sold to $55/head.
