Look up in the air….. - It's a bird, it's a plane, no, no, no, it's the future of communications. Tim Neale, co-founder of Precision Agricultural DataFarming, said yesterday, "There are also 2 other countries launching satellites to do 5G from space directly to your existing handset! Goodbye, terrestrial networks.........."

I had to look up what terrestrial meant and it basically the phone and internet service as we know it today. Here's what they said when I Googled it. "Communication systems known as terrestrial networks use wired or wireless signals that pass through the atmosphere to function on the earth's surface. Traditional landline telephone lines, cellular networks, and Wi-Fi are a few examples of terrestrial networks".

All this was in reply to our article about Starlink announcing that it had successfully sent and received its first text message to and from a cell (mobile) satellite it launched six days prior. You can read the article here.

I trust Tim and his knowledge of Satellites and what they are capable of because he deals with them through his business every day. But to think of a future where we don't have to rely on crappy service from phone towers and equally crappy internet service is something dreams are made of. Reply to dwaind@farmtender.com.au
