Yarding - 10,700

Lamb supply decreased to 9,500, the quality was again varied ranging from plain to very good with limited numbers yarded across all categories, with last of the lamb drafts are being yarded. Not all the usual buying group were present, the market started softer with processors very selective and store buyers not active to gain some momentum towards the end of the lamb run for the neat well finished lambs with good cover. Overall light lambs slipped to $18 cheaper, trade lambs sold to $10 softer and heavy and extra heavy export lambs were to $15/head back on last week’s levels to top at $241/head.

Store buyers and feeders were again quiet, lambs back to the paddock and to feed on made from $74 to $152/head. Light lambs under 18kg cwt to suit MK orders to the trade sold from $80 to $100/head. Trade lambs 18 to 22kg made from $115 to $172, lambs 22 to 24kg sold from $158 to $188, lambs 24 to 26kg made from $174 to $200/head to average 690c to 730c/kg cwt. Export lambs 26 to 30kg made from $193 to $218 to average 705c to 715c/kg and over 30kg sold from $215 to $241/head with an average of 660c/kg cwt.

A very small yarding of mutton with only 1,200 penned. The quality was mixed ranging from plain to good, not all buyers were operating and competition was quite. Overall the market was to $15/head cheaper in places. Merino wethers made from $60 to $175/head with an average range from 390c to 540c/kg cwt. Heavy Merino ewes sold from $94 to $156, and heavy crossbred mutton made $135 to $218/head to average 450c to 520c/kg cwt.
