Lifeless Lamb market at Ballarat

Yarding - 6800 (-2127).
Lambs - 3600 (-2527).
Sheep - 3200 (-2527)

Lamb supply decreased again this week with agents drawing for 3,600, the quality was plain to very good, still not all the usual buying group attending and not the demand from the buyers present. Heavy old lambs sold to a top of $183, a few pens of good quality suckers yarded sold from $101 to $175 and restockers paid $127 to $141/head. Over all the market was $5 to $10/head softer on last weeks levels.

Old lambs back to the paddock, sold to $99/head. Trade lambs 18 to 22kg, sold from $122 to $126/head. Lambs 22 to 24kg, sold from $138to $156, lambs 24 to 26kg, sold from $158 to $160/head, most lambs in the range of 579c to 632c/kg cwt. Export score 4 lambs 26kg Andover, sold from $158 to $180/head. Merino lambs sold 16kg and over sold from $99 to $155, while Merino Lambs back to the paddock sold from $54 to $99/head.

In the sheep, 3,200 head were yarded with the quality mostly very good. Merino ewes 18kg and over sold from $117 to $166, heavy crossbred ewes sold from $136 to $180/head. Merino wethers sold from $108 to $170/head. With Merino mutton averaging 570c/kg cwt. Rams sold to $120 for Merino’s and $55/head for crossbred’s.
