Learning from learnings - Nigel Kerin from Kerin Ag at Yeoval, NSW, provided us with the best bit of media I have seen in some time.
So, to paint the picture, with the use of an Optiweigh Paddock Weigher, he was able to identify that he had a mob of Heifers losing weight, something like 1.3kg per head per day for the last couple of days. They had just gone from a Grass pasture to a lush Lucerne Pasture. It might be due to the change of feed, but it might be something to do with worms. So they quickly took a heap of dung samples, processed them, and went about trying to find the issue. Watch the first part here. 8 Days later, Nigel was back with the problem solved. It was a worm, so after a drench, they started putting weight back on again and away they went. See the second part here. It's well worth watching each video as he explains it better. I just hope you can open them.

Nigel said with the use of the Optiweigh and FECPAK technology, he was able to identify the problem quickly, address the problem quickly and save himself alot of dollars in weight loss.
As Farmers, we can learn from Nigel the process of how he identified the problem and how he went about solving it. Another learning is that he was preparred to share the problem and the process of how they went about it. Some of us might have been embarrassed to share a problem like that, but we need not be. We need to share more in Ag. Well done to Nigel and his team; it's a great piece of media. Reply to dwaind@farmtender.com.au
