Supply remained similar at 7,800 lambs and 2,000 sheep. One major NSW exporter was again absent due to the plant having a winter shutdown, and not all other buyers were fully active. The market was erratic. There was isolated dearer sales of neat trade and heavy lambs sized around 28kg cwt that drew domestic support, but bidding lacked consistency and when all sales were calculated together the market was similar to a few dollars easier than a week ago.

One pen of heavy export lambs topped at $287 but most sales of 30kg cwt plus crossbreds were between $238 and $265/head at an estimated average of 740c/kg cwt. The heavy 26-30kg cwt lambs sold from $217 to $240, highlighting how the market did perform around quality and which buyers locked onto a certain pen. The same trend was evident over the trade lambs with buyers prepared to pay a premium for the better shaped and finished lambs at $190 to $215 for stock sized from 22-26kg cwt, but with plainer types in rougher skins from $171 to $185/head.

On a carcass basis the better quality trade lambs were in a range of 780c to 830c/kg, while the secondary lots varied from 700c to 770c/kg cwt. Heavy fed Merino lambs sold to $226 but the majority were plainer domestic and light types at $125 to $173/head. Light crossbred lambs sold from $130 to $155 for those with frame, and from $100 to $125 for smaller types.

The mutton yarding was limited and not all processors competed. Heavy crossbred ewes realising $180 to $220 with the majority of sales around $200/head. Heavy Merino ewes in higher value skins were making $180 to $227 and Merino wethers to $198/head. Most sheep sales were estimated in a range of 560c to 620c/kg cwt.
