Producers pushed more lambs into the market. Most of the major export and domestic buyers made it to the sale. The improved buyer demand and a step up in quality meant prices lifted $10 to $20 however, buying focus was directed to neatly shorn lambs offering weight and yield.
Trade buyers focused mostly on shorn lambs. The tops of the trade lambs averaged 780c to 795c/kg carcass weight. 21kg to 24kg sold from $150 to $196/head. Store lambs with frame and weight lifted $11 to $14 making from $108 to $150/head.
Extra heavy shorn lambs over 30kg cwt benefited from a bigger group of buyers and tracked mostly over $240, with heaviest lambs punching out between $268 to $312 to average 754c/kg cwt. Lambs 27kg to 30kg sold from $215 to $281/head averaging 736c/kg cwt.
It was a fair to good quality sheep offering. Less buyers operated in the sheep sale. Heavy crossbred ewes sold from $100 to $157/head, while big Merino wethers recorded a top price of $150/head. Trade sheep sold to weaker bidding selling at $32 to $107/head.
