Import advice but don't export decisions - I heard this comment somewhere last week, and it got me thinking about how it makes so much sense.
In Farming, we have many people around us who help us with advice so that we can make decisions about what we do on the Farm. It might be an Agronomist, a Livestock Agent, a Consultant (big in WA), an Accountant, etc. These people will feed us some or all the information that's required, but as the business owner or manager, the decisions have to be made by us.

Farmers are the ultimate decision makers, there are many decisions Farmer needs to make each day, mostly small ones with the occasional biggie, but the small ones all lead to something big, like Growing a Crop, for example.
By using the information from everyone around us and siphoning it into a decision that leads to an outcome, it means we have some sort of control over the process. As soon as we let others make those sorts of decisions for us, we immediately have a disconnect with the process, and things can then start falling down or failing. It's much better for us as business owners or managers to make the decisions because we can then own them, and that's a very important thing.
