Heavy - Hard to watch - But do - I subscribed and downloaded the Just a Farmer movie over the weekend and managed to get through most of it. By jingo, it’s pretty heavy and glum stuff. You can download it here.

It starts out with the husband being pretty out of it (depressed), and you know what’s going to happen in anticipation, and luckily, it’s reasonable early in the piece. And when she did find the body, it was pretty hard to watch. Then came the sad and chilling reality of having someone who committed suicide for the immediate family with small kids, extended family, friends and then the community. It really spells out the consequences.

The “But do” bit in the headline means you need to watch it. Because outside those that have had to go through it, it’s as real as you are going to see. It does get all the emotion happening within your body and really makes you think alot about a wide range of things. It jolts you.

Most movies that do Rural or Farming are really corny and cringeworthy as far as how it’s depicted; this is not; it’s as real as you are going to see and very relatable for us Farmers. So, hats off and congratulations to Leila and all the team for bringing the subject to the forefront. It’s a societal problem. They have identified it and put it in front of us to give us an understanding of what it could be like. And for that, very well done. Reply to dwaind@farmtender.com.au
