Good data bad data - We all know that companies like Facebook and John Deere are watching us closely. I know many people would rather they don't watch us at all, but I would far prefer John Deere watching my every move in the Tractor than Facebook any day of the week.
Contributing data to John Deere means they can actually build a better product for us to use. So I think that's good data, put to good use. I get some sort of benefit from the data I contribute. It's more of a win/win.
Facebook, on the other hand, uses that data to line its own pockets further. So the data they gain from me never comes back as a benefit to me. Bad data.
There's a lot of Farm Data that is useless and will never see the light of day. The data that is useful for Farmers is the data that leads to outcomes. An example of this would be Breeding Values for Sheep and Cattle. These values can lead to us achieving better outcomes when selling commercial Sheep and Cattle, and that's good for each industry as a whole.
