Golfers with rocks in their shoes! - I have heard of Golfers who walk around with rocks in their shoes during a round to help them focus and concentrate. Weird ah.... And I mean, small rocks that just make you a little uncomfortable when you walk, not big rocks that will damage your feet.

I played Cricket as a batsman for 30-odd years, and I tried this technique half a dozen times. I can't remember the outcomes as far as runs were concerned, but I do remember it helped me focus. Why I didn't continue with it, I'm not so sure.

In Farming, there are times when we need to really focus. It might be in an important meeting with a person or a group of people where you really need to focus on one thing only and get your point across. You might be worried about the meeting getting off track, so you might want to try this trick to keep you focussed on your job at hand. Another scenario might be when you're talking in front of a crowd. This is always nerve-wracking, and even the best at it get nervous. I know a wide range of techniques the very best public speakers use to help them to deliver the ultimate speech. Also, it might be that you are unhappy with an employee, a boss, or a family member on the Farm, and you know if you blow up it will only make the situation worse. If you know you will be crossing paths, this technique might work to help you stay calm.

Life is full of weird and wonderful ways to help us to get through the day. We are all different, and we just have to find what works for each of us. Even if they are weird.....
