Both lamb and sheep numbers lifted slightly as dry conditions continue with 29,200 lambs and 9.900 sheep penned. The quality over the lamb run was again very good with an excellent presentation of heavy fed lambs. Quality trade weight were also in good numbers with the runs of Southdown cross lambs sought after along with well finished short skin lambs. The regular buying group were in attendance and operating keenly in in a generally firm market, a few dollars easier on the extra heavy weight and trade weight lambs and to $5/head dearer on the lighter weights. Restocker and feeder lambs were also dearer. Medium and heavy trade weight lambs sold from $132 to $177 with the extra heavy weight lambs selling from $200 to $260/head for lambs estimated 38 to 40kg cwt. Merino lambs mostly sold from $108 to $118/head averaging from 560c to 590c/kg cwt. Restocker’s and feeders were active paying from $96 to $150 and from $10 to $116/head for lighter weights. They paid $1/head for very light Merino ewes. Hogetts sold to $125 for the crossbreds with Merino hogetts selling to $120/head.
Light weight lambs sold from $89 to $119/head and averaged 640c/kg cwt. Light trade weight lambs sold from $120 to $144/head to average 650c to 660c/kg cwt. Medium trade weight lambs sold from $132 to $165/head and averaged 635c/kg cwt. Heavy trade weights sold from $152 to $177/head and averaged 655c/kg cwt. Export weight lambs sold from $173 to $203/head to average 650c/kg cwt. Extra heavy weight lambs sold from $200 to $260/head and averaged 655c/kg cwt. The best of the dorper lambs sold to $141/head.

The sheep offering of 9,900 covered all weights and grades and made up of mostly Merino ewes and wethers. Sheep mostly sold similar to last week with Merino wethers selling to a top of $95, Merino ewes selling to $90 and crossbred ewes selling to $102/head. The regular buying group attended and all were keen for a share.
Very light sheep sold from $19 to $25/head. Light sheep sold from $34 to $45/head with crossbreds averaging 200c and the Merino’s averaging 235c/kg cwt. Medium weight sheep sold from $49 to $80/head with the Merino mutton averaging 270c and the crossbreds averaging 240c/kg cwt. Heavy Merino’s sheep sold from $60 to $90, Merino wethers sold from $62 to $95/head they ranged from 260c to 290c/kg cwt. Heavy crossbred sheep sold from $34 to $102/head averaging 220 to 235c/kg cwt. Rams ranged from $2 to $30/head.
