Fluctuating market for Lambs at Wagga Wagga

Yarding - 26,300 (-6200).
Lambs - 20,000 (-3000).
Sheep - 6300 (-3200).

There was a drop in lamb supply to 20,000 which was 3,000 less. Quality varied from good to plain with many lambs showing signs of more dryness in their skin. The regular buyers were present and operated in a fluctuating market quality dependent. Light weight lambs were close to firm, medium and heavy trade weights sold from $2 to $5/head easier but the good quality sold unchanged. Heavy lambs sold to less demand and were also from $5 to $6/head cheaper. Restockers and feeders were busy at times purchasing lambs from mostly from $136 to$160 with a pen of ewe lambs selling to $200/head. The better quality Merino lambs sold from $135 to $169 with the restockers buyingMerino lambs from $115 to $147/head. Sheep supply came back by 3,200 head as 6,300 were offered in a mixed quality yarding of all weights and grades. Light and medium weight sheep sold a few dollars easier with the heavy weights remaining firm.

Light weight 2 score new season lambs to the processors made from $106 to $139 and the light trade weights sold from $132 to $163/head to average from 770c to 780c/kg cwt. The medium trade weight lambs sold from $157 to $178/head as they averaged from 750c to 770c/kg cwt. Heavy trade weights sold from $184 to $210 with heavy lambs 26 to 30kg cwt making from $210 to $234/head. Medium trade weight old short lambs sold from $164 to $178 with heavy weights making from $190 to $233/head to make from 740c to 760c/kg cwt.

Light weight sheep sold from $118 to $158, medium weights made from $149 to $200/head with the crossbred mutton averaging 610c and the Merino mutton 620c/kg cwt. Heavy crossbred ewes sold from $181 to $252 and the heavy Merino ewes made from $182 to $283/head.Heavy Merino wethers sold from $193 to $222, medium weights made from $163 to $190/head as they averaged from 620c to 650c/kg cwt. Crossbred wethers sold to a top of $288/head. Rams of all breeds sold from $82 to $169/head
