I was lucky enough to attend our second Farm Tender Conference last Friday. Once again it was such a great day, amazing location, speakers and food!

Each speaker gave so much insight into a range of different topics; I had so many take aways from the day, but one that was most relevant to me and my role as Sales Manager for Farm Inputs was from the discussion Dwain had with Rob Dawes (pictured) from Rob Dawes Consulting. Rob spoke about where to for Farm Inputs and how Farmers can get a better deal.

Rob encourages his clients to look at locking in their Fertiliser and Chemical requirements at least 3 months in advance, preferably 6 months ahead if possible. This is more difficult with products like Urea as it depends on the weather, but most products can be pre booked to ensure supply is there when you need it.

The other thing I found interesting was, he recommends Growers only have 2 with a maximum of 3 retailers that they buy from. This helps build long-term relationships, ensuring the product you have ordered is there when you need it, and also creates better competitive pressure.
