Country Sport: We hear it constantly how hard it is to keep local sporting clubs alive. And it is, I get it. Football, Rugby, Cricket, Tennis and the like, most are all experiencing reduced numbers, and some clubs are falling over. 

But since we started playing sports in this country, it has been an ongoing thing that clubs close, merge or keep going with varying periods of success and failures. Many old Leagues and Competitions are now defunct, and some disbanded nearly a century ago.

There is one thing that all clubs rely on, people. But the successful clubs are a little different. It's the quality of the people involved. It's like a business that is run by good people. They stand out. 

Our old local Football Club at Marnoo is no longer, the lack of numbers, in the end, killed it. But the Cricket Club is still going with a town population of only 99 (2021 census). This is mainly due to some good people stepping up to the plate, and then when it becomes their turn, they are responsible to make sure the lights stay on.
