By appointment only -- Farmers love a chat. But the days of a Farmer pulling up for a half-hour chat are rearer now than, say 15 years ago. Farmers are very busy people, and as we have said in this column numerous times, they are probably too busy.

So if you want the Farmers ear for that half hour, it might be better to ring them and book in a "rough" time. The days of driving up driveways and chewing the fat over scones and tea are pretty much gone.

We connect with hundreds of Farmers every week, but we do it mostly by phone. Some are up for a chat, but most are fully focused on the job at hand and just want to get or give the information required and run.

All our staff are respectful of Farmers time. You can get a feeling at the very start of the conversation as to how quickly we need this phone call to last. But the ones that can spend a bit of time for a chat are very generous in passing on information that we can use to pass onto others who might get something that helps them or solves part of a problem. The content of this daily newsletter stems from the information we receive from our Farmer customers each day.
