Numbers were similar and combined in the total 6600 new season lambs. A bigger field of buyers made it to the sale which meant demand lifted as all buyers were keen for the better finished types. Heavy lambs were in short supply however there were big runs of trade lambs all grain assisted and presenting in a very short skin. Most of the demand for top end domestic lambs came from major supermarkets and southern processors. In the export sale the market was mostly unchanged with buyers not prepared to engage in long bidding duels.
New season lambs took centre stage in each agents run with prices bouncing up $10 for the top pens. Lambs 20 to 26kg sold from $158 to $225 with a single pen of extra heavy making $230. The bulk of the new season lambs averaged 860c to 880c/kg cwt. Bidding for old lambs was stronger due to the big offering of shorn, grain assisted, lambs in each agents run. Prices at the top end of the trade lambs were up to $10 dearer. The 20 to 24kg lambs made from $145 to $213/head to average 860c/kg cwt. Merino lambs found a few more buyers in the market and prices fluctuated around quality and skin length. The better presented trade types trading between $138 to $195/head. Heavy Merino lambs sold at $205 to $219/head. Store buyers and feedlots were back in the sale and all were operating. Lambs to feed on topped at $208, while new season store lambs ranged from $56 to $160/head.

In The export sale weight was lacking compared to the previous week. Heavy lambs prices remained solid throughout the sale. Lambs 26 to 30kg made from $217 to $255, while they’re heavier lambs 30kg plus sold from $260 to $285/head to average 818c/kg cwt.
It was a mixed yarding of mutton that was offered to most of the usual buying group. Heavy mutton was keenly contested by several major processors. Prices rallied $15 to $20. Heavy mutton selling from $102 to 170/head to average 411c/kg cwt. Trade sheep sold from $81 to $128 to average 396c/kg cwt. Light sheep sold at $20 to $68/head.
