Quality was excellent in the heavy trade and heavy export lambs with limited supply then quality quickly dropped away to range from plain to good, with the majority of the yarding secondary types. All the usual buying group attended, the market opened similar to last week with buyers selective and not operating fully. As the sale progressed bidding increased intensity over the heavy trade and export categories. Light lambs sold firm to a few dollars cheaper, Medium trade to $5/head dearer and the secondary types sold slightly cheaper. Heavy trade and heavy export sold $8 to $12/head better in places.

Store buyers were active in the market but selective with lambs back to the paddock under 18kg selling from $14 to $130, and lambs to feed on over 18kg made $118 to $147/head. Lambs to the trade to suit MK orders under 18kg sold from $69 to $127, Lambs 18-22kg, sold from $127 to $166, Lambs 22-24kg, sold from $149 to $188, Lambs 24-26kg made from $173 to $206/head. Export score 4 lambs over 26 to 30kg sold from $195 to $226 and 30kg and over made $238 to $270/head. The better-quality lambs average from 700c to 770c/kg cwt.

A plainer yarding of sheep this week, quality ranging from plain to good. Buyers were active in a stronger market. Medium and heavy weight sheep sold from $5 to $10 dearer, Merino’s in wool sold to $15 dearer in places. Merino wethers from $57 to $120, Merino ewes $18 to $99 and heavy crossbred mutton made $74 to $126/head
