Lamb supply increased to 29,055 yarded where the quality was mixed ranging from plain to excellent. Most of the usual buying group attended but not all were fully active in a softer market across most categories as the bidding lacked the intensity from a week ago. Light trade lambs were to $5 cheaper medium trade were back $5 to $10 and heavy trade selling to $10/head softer to a week ago. Export lambs were presented in exceptional condition with estimated weights of 40kg cwt however, there wasn’t the demand this week selling to $14/head cheaper.
Store buyers were active but didn’t have the pressure from processors on the rail. Lambs back to the paddock sold from $45 to $191/head holding firm to a few dollars easier. Light lambs under 18kg cwt to suit MK orders to the trade sold from $88 to $140/head. Trade lambs 18 to 22kg made from $164 to $180/head. Lambs 22 to 24kg sold from $182 to $194 and lambs 24kg to 26kg sold from $186 to $210/head with a range of 750c to 785c/kg cwt. Export lambs 26 to 30kg made from $212 to $232 and over 30kg sold from $230 to $290/head with an average range of 730c to 760c/kg cwt.
Sheep numbers also increased to 13,388 yarded the quality was mixed ranging from plain to very good. A few processors were absent from the market with light mutton selling to $23/head cheaper. Medium weights were to $8/head softer and heavy mutton was mostly firm to slightly easier. Heavy Merino wethers, made from $160 to $208/head to average 630c/kg cwt. Heavy Merino ewes sold from $154 to $203/head to average 590c to 610c/kg cwt and heavy crossbred mutton made to $230/head to average 590c/kg cwt.
