Lamb supply decreased to 34,100 penned. The quality ranged from plain to excellent. All the usual buying group attended. There wasn’t the same bidding intensity this week with buyers more selective on trade weights. Overall light and medium trade weights slipped $5 to $10/head, with plainer lambs in long skins recording sales of up to $15/head cheaper, while the lambs in short skins with plenty of cover sold well to be firm to a few dollars dearer. Heavy trade weights sold to $3/head softer in places. Another excellent line up of quality heavy and extra heavy export lambs selling to a top of $308/head, holding firm to a week ago.

Store buyers weren’t as active this week and were also selective when bidding on the lighter plainer types, lambs back to the paddock and to feed on sold from $49 to $178/head selling to $10/head cheaper. Light lambs under 18kg cwt to suit MK orders to the trade sold from $114 to $158, $6/head softer. Trade lambs 18 to 22kg made from $150 to $188, lambs 22 to 24kg sold from $170 to $200, lambs 24 to 26kg made from $190 to $220/head, with a range of 770c to 846c/kg cwt. Export lambs 26 to 30kg made from $205 to $245 and over 30kg sold from $235 to $308/head with an average range of 740c to 775c/kg cwt.

Sheep numbers increased to 6,535 yarded the quality was mixed ranging from plain to very good with not a lot of weight offered with some buyers not operating fully. Overall prices were to $16/head softer to a week ago. Heavy Merino wethers made from $133 to $183/head to average 670c to 690c/kg cwt. Heavy Merino ewes sold from $146 to $218/head to average 620c to 670c, and heavy crossbred mutton made $152 to $235/head to average 610c to 650c/kg cwt.
