Belonging to something - It's interesting what Tom Bull and his team are creating in the Sheep game. It's like a connected ecosystem where value is created at every point.
Branding and then taking something through to retail is something that many have tried before and failed at, especially in the Sheep and Lamb game.

Just for context, and it's only me looking from the outside in, he and his team are putting a nice value-added system together. I see him doing three very important things. 1) He is breeding Rams that people seem to want to buy; that's hard enough on its own. He gets the benefit of that. 2) He has created a market for the Lamb progeny from the Rams that his clients buy. His clients get the benefit of that. 3) He is also creating amazing brands that are growing and building. The industry as a whole is the beneficiary of that.
Creating brands is one thing but doing it successfully is rare air space. The Beef guys have done it well, and it continues to grow, but it's been a battle with Lamb. His following and profile are growing, and it’s an attractive proposition for Sheep Farmers because we all want to belong to that something. I see where MSA has been trialled at Gundagai Lamb. That will help set the standard for Lamb and give the industry different levels where value can be added. So exciting times. Perhaps a client of Tom's could let us know their experience of being in the system. Reply to dwaind@farmtender.com.au
