Lamb supply decreased to 7,800, quality was varied from plain to very good including good runs of heavy lamb’s, quality slipped away with the majority of the yarded secondary lambs lacking finish. Not all usual buyers were present and not all were active. Strong competition from local processors witnessed heavy lambs increase by $4 to $8 to top at $259/head with trade weights slipping from $3 to $9/head. Light lambs were to $20/head cheaper in places.

Store buyers that were present were quite with lambs back to the paddock and to feed on making from $40 to $144/head. Light lambs under 18kg cwt to suit MK orders to the trade sold from $58 to $126/head. Trade lambs 18 to 22kg made from $124 to $169, lambs 22 to 24kg sold from $173 to $192, lambs 24 to 26kg made from $192 to $206/head, to average 730c to 780c/kg cwt. Heavy export lambs 26 to 30kg made from $214 to $229 and over 30kg sold from $237 to $259/head with an average of 735c to 770/kg cwt.

Mutton numbers remained similar with 5,000 penned of mixed quality ranging from plain to excellent. Good competition for the Merino portion while buyers were selective on the crossbred mutton. Heavy Merino wethers were presented in excellent condition and made from $145 to $180/head mostly holding firm. Heavy Merino ewes sold from $140 to $175 slipping $4/head and heavy crossbred mutton made from $140 to $200 dropping to $15/head.
