Lamb supply decreased to 16,900 yarded, The quality was plain to excellent, Overall, there wasn’t a lot of weight offered across the yarding. Most the usual buying group attended, not all were active in another strong market with prices either side of firm depending on quality and finish. On average light trade sold firm to $6 dearer, medium trade were mostly firm, and heavy trades were to $4/head better. Heavy export lambs were in limited supply, sold firm to a few dollars dearer.
Store buyer’s were active with lambs back to the paddock and to feed on selling firm to $6/head stronger in places. Lambs under 20kg sold from $86 to $176 and $180 to $199/head over 20kg cwt. Light lambs under 18kg cwt to suit MK orders to the trade sold from $136 to $175/head. New season trade lambs in wool, 18 to 24kg sold from $164 to $214, heavy lambs 24 to 26kg sold from $209 to $227/head, with an average range of 820c to 870c/kg cwt. Export lambs over 26 to 30kg made from $234 to $239/head to average 820c to 840c/kg cwt.
Shorn lambs with good finish sold well with sales reaching over 900c in places, trade lambs 18 to 24kg sold from $167 to $223, lambs 24 to 26kg sold from $215 to $238/head to average 870c to 890c/kg cwt. Lambs 26 to 30kg made from $225 to $255 and over 30kg sold to $270/head to average 825c to 850c/kg cwt.
Sheep numbers were light with 3,120 penned, quality was mixed and not a lot of weight was offered. Not all the usual buyers were present and not all were active. Overall, the market was firm to $6/head stronger on last week’s softer market. Heavy Merino wethers made from $160 to $190/head, to average 560c to 600c/kg cwt. Heavy Merino ewes sold from $138 to $180 to average 560c and heavy crossbred mutton made $144 to $180/head, to average 530c to 560c/kg cwt.
