Are they building something big? - We wrote about how we returned to the Field Day scene a couple of weeks ago, and now we are doing it for a second time this Friday (28th). This time in the old hometown of Marnoo.

The Victorian State Merino Field Day at Marnoo is only a couple of years old but has grown in stature, and according to its founder Trent Carter, it will keep on growing. I remember when the Bendigo Sheep Show event was very small, now they get 30,000 through the gate.

We write about Field Days and Ag events quite a bit and how some drop off, and some become more popular. It takes effort to get these events started, and then you have to keep them going. It takes lots of in-kind work by lots of people. But when you pare it back, someone, and it's usually an individual, has to lead the charge.

Some of you may already know that Marnoo is a renowned Merinos Sheep area. There are alot of Sheep studs within the vicinity, so something like this should work. All small communities should hang their hat on at least one event a year. This is what it takes nowadays to keep communities going. So we'll see you there..... What event could you get going in your area?
