Ag Media done differently - The Agricultural media landscape is changing. We no longer rely on publications like The Land, Weekly Times, etc.

News and information is now delivered in different forms. There are about a dozen Ag Podcasts worth listening to. Beef/Grain/Sheep Central has found a strong readership with its online-only news. Analysts like Episode 3 and Mecardo have found niche audiences and topic-focused webinars are becoming more popular.

Lately, Newsletters are the in thing. There are a couple that I pay up for out of the US. One is called Upstream Ag, written by Shane Thomas. He started Upstream 4 years ago and has now put his weekly piece behind a paywall. Shane's a bit of a guru and covers a wide range of topics. Janette Bernard's Prime Futures, an Animal Agriculture Newsletter that comes out once a week, is another one worth following.

This "Daily" has become popular because the articles are very short. I have also started a new newsletter called The Farmers Club, which is a little different to the "Daily", in which we cover 4 or 5 topics each day, all written in short form. Check it out here and sign in with your email address. I reckon short-form writing is popular with time-poor Farmers who simply won't read long articles anymore. What Ag media do you consume?
