Yarding - 46,350
Numbers fell back significantly due to rain across the supply area. A big field of buyers were at the sale but not all major export companies operated. Heavy lambs were in short supply and there were some runs of grain assisted lambs however, weight this week was lacking. New season lambs numbers dropped to 6800 along with 10,000 Merino lambs. In the export sale bidding was significantly stronger for any lambs weighing more than 26kg carcass weight.
New season lamb quality was very good, most showing plenty of freshness. Lambs 20 to 24kg sold to solid competition. The bulk selling from $166 to $213 to average 873c/kg cwt. New season 24 to 26kg averaged 872c/kg cwt. Heavy export young lambs were in short supply selling at $227 to $243/head. Bidding for old lambs was at times was fever pitched, with plenty of neat shorn lambs jumping $20 per head. Longer wool and uglier types attracted more buyers this week, causing prices to strengthen for plainer types. The 20 to 24kg lambs made from $152 to $218/head to average 853c/kg cwt. Merino lambs attracted a big field of buyers with grain assisted highly sought. Buyer interest strengthened as the sale progressed. The better presented trade types trading between $144 to $208/head. There were some magnificent runs of heavy Merino lambs selling at $210 to $248/head. Store buyers mostly operated across young lamb classes paying between $120 to $150

In The export sale there was less weight on offer and quality was excellent. Lambs 26 to 30kg gained $21 making from $246 to $281/head. Heavy lambs over 30kg ignited the bidding with long bidding duels frequent. Prices jumped $13 topping at $307 to average 887c/kg cwt.
It was another mixed quality yarding, with plenty of big heavy ewes in each agents run. It was a large group of processors at the rail and most were active. Big heavy ewes sold to a big group of buyers resulting in a price lift of $20 to $25/head. Heavy mutton averaged 420c/kg cwt. Trade sheep gained $12 to average 428c/kg cwt, sales ranging from $77 to $121/head.
