Lamb supply increased to 38,700 penned. The quality ranged from plain to exceptional. All of the usual buying group attended in a competitive market across all categories. Light trade lambs sold to $12/head better, medium and heavy trade sold mostly firm to gain a few dollars. An exceptional line up of quality heavy and extra heavy export lambs with plenty of weight were on offer selling to a top of $312/head to be $10/head dearer.
Store buyers were very strong this week with extra buyers present selling to $15 dearer in places. Lambs back to the paddock and to feed on sold from $49 to $188/head. Light lambs under 18kg cwt to suit MK orders to the trade sold from $136 to $163/head gaining $12/head. Trade lambs 18 to 22kg made from $165 to $179, lambs 22 to 24kg sold from $177 to $197 and lambs 24 to 26kg made from $190 to $220/head with a wide range of 770c to 820c/kg cwt. Export lambs 26 to 30kg made from $204 to $239/head to average 765c to 775c and over 30kg sold from $230 to $312/head to average 745c/kg cwt.
Sheep numbers halved the week to 4,800 yarded where quality was mixed ranging from plain to very good in an extremely strong market. Competition was strong across all weights and grades. Overall the market was from $20 to $30/head dearer and more in places. Heavy Merino wethers made from $150 to $206/head to average 690c to 740c/kg cwt. Heavy Merino ewes sold from $156 to $230/head, to average 670c to 720c, and heavy crossbred mutton made $160 to $268/head to average 660c to 710c/kg cwt.
