A few choice words - A generation or two ago, there weren't too many compliments handed out in the Farming game. There is still some carryover from that today, but the landscape has changed quite alot.

The old us (Farm owners) and them (workers, Shearers, etc) mentality has been equalised as there is less hierarchy in Ag these days. All people who work alongside each other in the Ag space have to get along. Otherwise, you'll be doing it all yourself.

Everyone in Ag yearns for or thrives on a compliment or pat on the back for a job well done. A thank you for not doing much, or a call or a call back can mean so much.

It's nearly Christmas and the end of the year, so there's no better time to give your fellow workers, your staff, your family, and the people who support you in business a nice reminder that they are appreciated. You don't have to go over the top; just a tap on the shoulder, a look in the eye and a few choice words will go a long way. Do it once and then follow up at the appropriate time again and again. Make it a habit. Lead the charge and you never know, you might get a compliment in return. Reply to dwaind@farmtender.com.au
