The primary purpose of the HAYMAX Hay Super Conditioner is to reduce drying time of windrowed hay by up to 50%. This reduces the risk of damage to the hay through increased exposure to the elements, and also preserves nutritional value and overall quality.
Super Conditioning can increase bale weight by up to 100kg per bale, which reduces handling and transport costs proportionally. It also results in softer, ‘more palatable’ hay.
The HAYMAX has a baler-type pick up which is mechanically driven. This ensures a consistent operational speed and rate of pick-up (the operational speed of hydraulic drive systems is contingent on the capacity of the towing tractor, which can vary considerably).
The slatted pick-up rollers on the HAYMAX Hay Super Conditioner ensure rapid pick-up of material from the ground, and the slotted conditioning rollers ensure a continuous flow of material through the machine. Collectively, the slatted/slotted combination of rollers enables the HAYMAX to condition virtually any crop that can be baled. The spacing between the conditioning rollers can easily be adjusted in the field, and the spring tension is hydraulically adjusted.
The HAYMAX is over 3 tonnes in weight, an indication of the strength and durability built into the machine. Further, the weight of the machine significantly reduces wear and tear to the machine and consequent maintenance & downtime because it adds to its stability and enables the unit to travel comfortably in the field at 10-12km/hr in a 3.5 tonne/acre crop.
The HAYMAX has a Walking Beam axle which significantly improves the ride of the machine in the field and reduces shock loading. The spacing of the wheels is designed to enable the machine to be easily loaded onto a drop deck trailer for transportation.
The HAYMAX Hay Super Conditioner produces ‘square fluffy’ windrows which are ideal for baling.
A client of Ashmore Engineering reported that he used the HAYMAX in a 3.5tonne/acre oat crop, where the hay was cut with a 16’ mower on Friday, then Super Conditioned with the HAYMAX on Sunday, and was baled at 12% moisture on Thursday.
