GLENDEMAR MPM OPEN DAY FRIDAY 1ST OCTOBER FROM 10;00 AM
GLENDEMAR MPM RAM SALE WEDNESDAY 6TH OF OCTOBER 1;30PM START.
Unfortunately we will be once again under Covid 19 restrictions, but having done it all last year we all know what is required. Unfortunately this will make it hard (hopefully not impossible) for interstate visitors.
We are set to take video’s and wool shot of all rams on Monday 13th of September that will be then uploaded to our You Tube channel - Glendemar MPM - about a week later. Again we will be using Auctions Plus for the sale and anyone that could not attend last year where able to get requirements this way. If you require assistance from an agent please feel free to contact Nutrien Agent Damien Drum on 0428 952 284. All ram video’s and wool shot will be up on Auctions Plus a week before the sale.
All rams will be penned at our Open Day, Friday 1 October, for anyone that is looking for an early look and organise their buying order prior to the sale. We found this worked extremely well and allows clients a relaxed environment to look over the rams and a chance for us to catch up and talk sheep.
140 Poll rams will be up for Auction this year with all current ASBV’s. We have the normal carcass and wool traits - PWT, YWT, PEMD, PFAT, YCFW, YSL and micron - and have introduced 2 new traits for 2021 in PFEC (Post Weaning Fecal Egg Count) and EBWR (Early Breech Wrinkle). As with all new traits we expect accuracies to increase as more and more data is collected. This year will see us introduce DNA testing on all stud sheep from now on. This will allow for more production and labour/cost saving traits and hard to collect traits to be introduced into the future.
Please note that Lots 124 - 140 are all out of ewe lambs and represent some fantastic genetics. All have been DNA tested and again we have a number of ewe lambs lambing this year that will provide more rams for next year. We have 5 reserve rams, from ewe lambs, that will continue to accelerate our desired breeding objective traits.
What a wonderful time to be in the sheep and agriculture industry and it is important that we take these opportunities that currently present themselves. Covid will have been and gone soon but we can be assured that the products we produce will continue to gain significant support. Only just reading this morning in the Financial Review of the younger generation discovering the wonderful properties of wool and their great benefit to the environment, sustainability and carbon neutral.
The lamb and mutton industry continue to develop fantastic markets, even in a reduced service industry, putting it in great shape for many years to come. We continue to work away on eating quality traits, which will be enhanced with more DNA testing and are excited to see IEQ (individual eating quality) traits being introduced to Gundagai Meats in NSW. We are extremely confidant that once these traits become standard in the industry our breeding will be in a good position to take advantage of segregated markets for high end quality sheepmeat.
Please feel free to contact us and let us know if you have any surplus MPM ewes for sale. The top lines of MPM ewes are in massive demand now-days and with plenty of re-stocking still taking place, and fantastic seasonal conditions, there is a great opportunity to sell good lines of genuine MPM ewes for good money.
