We baled our straw last year. It is header trail, not wind-rowed, so it is chopped up through the header. The disadvantage is it is not ideal for bedding, but put into a good hay ring, or a feed pad, mixer wagon it's fine... and I'd imagine the digestability is marginally better as it's been chopped. You also retain some of the old cereal leaf and small grains and seeds that go through the header. We feed it ourselves and it feeds well. We have both barley and wheat, it's all been well stored, covered with strong tarps.. we guarantee every bail. Or if you freight it yourself.... we welcome you to reject any bail you're not happy with. Our advantage is freight..... we are right beside the Melbourne Airport so we are a t a freight advantage to some areas, particularly Gippsland..... We sell it in B-double loads or 64 bales at a time..... we are only interested in selling to other dairy farmers/beef farmers etc.... so ideally we are not looking for small orders..... a single would still be fine. The B-double carries 64 bales. To Gippsland we can land for the following prices..... Landed Sale/Maffra for $60 per bale....... Landed Warragul for $52 per bale, landed Orbost $72 per bale, Landed Leongatha $54 per bale, landed Foster $57 per bale...... happy to quote any other destinations....

The bales are very strong bales..... they were baled at night so not too chaffy..... they are solid so easy to handle.... weights vary from 330-370kg..... so budget on 3 bales per ton, and you should be happy.... I'm happy to provide a quote on a per ton basis plus freight.....
