Biostimulants have shown to influence several metabolic processes such as respiration, photosynthesis, nucleic acid synthesis and ion uptake. Within the cell, biostimulants can effect and influence the production of RNA which is essential for several biological processes. These have also shown to improve chlorophyll content within the plant, which produces greener leaves. In several research studies, biostimulants have shown to decrease such problems like chlorosis by enabling the plant to uptake minerals already available within the soil profile. Also they have been shown to enable antioxidant activity in both the soil and within the plant, especially when the plants are under stress. Some stress can be due to insects or pest like mole crickets or nematodes, and other stress can be due to heat, drought or disease. Each one of these stresses either remove certain nutrients from the soil or disables the roots ability to extract needed materials. When this happens the plant or its roots will not produce enough vitamins, amino acids or hormones. This is where the biostimulants take over to aid in the recovery by supplementing those elements in the soil the plant is having difficulty in producing.
Biostimulation involves the modification of the environment to stimulate soil bacteria. The improved soil bacterial action allows a significant reduction in need for chemical fertilizers while increasing plant productivity. The increased bacterial activity also helps to loosen compacted soil and retains water, allowing for a reduction in the water necessary to produce a crop.
Unfortunately the biostimulants are not practically used in the field agriculture (broad
acre) because of their high cost price. In this connection our cost effective biostimulant
BioShot could have a great potential for the field soil application all over
the world.
Product Introduction:
The bio-stimulant, named as BioShot, is produced according to Australian Patent number: 201 1201345 – “Method for production of bio-stimulant, soil conditioner and wind soil erosion suppressant from the vegetative saccharides and their compounds”. For Australian condition - Molasses as a largest vegetative saccharide compound was chosen to design BioShot technological process. The technological process comprises the steps of Molasses reacting, in series, in acid and alkali environments at temperature, correspondingly, 101-105С and 82-85 C.
BioShot is a highly effective fully organic bio-stimulant. It is a thick dark solution that when applied acts as soil conditioner which stimulates and feeds the plant’s root system to significantly enhance the development of the plant. In our current testing procedures for sugarcane we have applied the product after the first cutting. The application will function best if applied when watering occurs or traditional fertilizers are used and applied to the soil and directly to the stump of the cuttings. BioShot is typically used at a ratio of 50-150 litres per hectare. BioShot contains carbonic acid salts that act as a soil conditioner to energize the biological life of the soil and stimulate the production of beneficial
bacteria. Furthermore the carbonic acid salts readily uptake moisture from the atmosphere to provide increased water absorption and water retention on and in the soil, thus making it even more attractive for use in arid conditions.
The carbonic acid salts also have strong binding properties. By spraying the BioShot solution on top of the soil, a stable soil layer is formed by binding the soil particles together. This provides considerable protection against soil and wind erosion. Furthermore, at higher concentrations it can provide a protective film over the soil to prevent weeds growing through the bound soil layer. Other Applications Besides acting as a bio-stimulant, BioShot has alternative applications such as fertilizer enhancer, soil conditioner, soil erosion binder, dust suppressant, a stock feed binder and water-reducing concrete additive. Therefore, there is a great deal of diversification in the applications for versions of this product (as there will be a need to “tweak” the generic product, to achieve the best results in the desired application), which not only opens up new sales avenues for the product. We have a great deal of information about the aforementioned applications and can present additional information regarding the same in due course, should you be interested.
A potential way of adding value to the production stream could be to sell totrading co’s involved in these types of businesses, in a take or pay agreement.
Benefits
Our experiments to date indicate that the harsher the soil conditions (mainly in dry climate), the better BioShot performs. It was featured in a story on Australian National news as a result of growing some “bumper crops” in arid soil. A few key findings from this test on the arid clay soils are detailed below:
1. There was a significant increase in the available Sodium.
2. The available Potassium increased markedly by 12%.
3. The available Nitrogen increased by 17%
4. The available Phosphorus increased by 25%.
BioShot significantly increased the available levels of major nutrients N, P and K.
BioShot offers tremendous benefits when applied to the foliage of growing plants. It increases photosynthesis and the plant's ability to metabolize carbohydrates, proteins and other growth compounds contained in the leaves and transfers them back to the root system. From the root system these compounds move out into the rhizosphere (the area surrounding the root filaments), feeding bacteria, algae, fungi and protozoa which in turn produce beneficial enzymes, organic acids, antibiotics, growth hormones and other nutrients. These growth stimulants are then re-absorbed by the roots and transported back through the plant's circulatory system producing healthier
plants.
Bio-stimulation involves the modification of the environment to stimulate soil bacteria. The improved soil bacterial action allows a significant reduction in need for chemical fertilizers while increasing plant productivity. The increased bacterial activity also helps to loosen compacted soil and retains more water, thus allowing for a reduction in the water necessary to produce a crop.
BioShot has gentle fungicide properties. It has been tested against Panama disease on the banana roots and a significant reduction in the diseaseoccurred within 3 and 6 months. The disease completely disappeared in a period of 11 months.
BioShot is a chelating agent. Using the chelating properties of BioShot we can expect to use it as a carrier of certain applications for fertilization and protection of plant against diseases. BioShot can be produced with the different bases including: Ca, Mg, K, Fe, Zn,
Mn, Cu or NH4. The application of a targeted Ca, Fe, Zn, Mn, Cu or NH4 based BioShot to various plant tissues will enhances the regeneration of
shoots and roots and also stimulates growth and development. The application of BioShot reduces the volatility of ammonia and decreases
urea hydrolysis in nitrogen nutrition (fertilizer).
