Young Ag leader will push over the barriers at Innovation Generation

Rebecca Milliken is one of the speakers expected to stir up some lively debate from the 18-35 year old farmers and agribusiness people at GrainGrowers' Innovation Generation conference in Wagga Wagga from 9-11 July. This dynamic young woman, originally from the Hay Plains, is moving ahead in leaps and bounds in the ag sector.
“I am looking forward to speaking at IG and challenging the status quo and traditional thinking about how we manage and develop people into the future in ag," said Rebecca.
“Times are changing. Ag is sexy and we need to attract, grow and develop the best minds to solve problems and build the legacy of our industry.”
GrainGrowers congratulates Rebecca who has just been appointed a farm sector participant who will advise the Federal Government on issues affecting agricultural sectors. She is one of 11 new members who have been appointed to the Agricultural Industry Advisory Council (AIAC) with terms not due to end until 21 May 2020.
“It is exciting to be a part of the Advisory Committee to give a grass roots lens on how Government policy affects the ag industry,” said Rebecca.
Rebecca is no stranger to leadership positions within the agricultural sector and for standing up for causes she believes in, including farm safety, mental health initiatives in the rural sector, and an end to the lack of gender diversity in agricultural boardrooms. She is also a member of the Course 24 Cohort in the Australian Rural Leadership Program, sponsored by AgriFutures Australia.
She is currently President of the Riverina Ag Network, an organisation which aims to bring together people in agriculture from across the Riverina through coordinating a range of educational, social and networking events throughout the year aimed at promoting agriculture. Riverina Ag Network has helped GrainGrowers with on the ground IG logistics and in bringing together a great line-up of speakers for the three day conference.
She has just been appointed Manager of People & Culture at Harmony Agriculture and Food Company Pty Ltd, having previously worked at Group HR Manager for Delta Agribusiness.
Passionate about people, building strategic partnerships and creating environments for growth, Rebecca is expected to be a popular speaker at GrainGrowers’ Innovation Generation conference in Wagga Wagga in July.
