Harvest work is available from October through to January, depending on site location and harvest conditions, at 67 locations across South Australia including the outskirts of Adelaide and western Victoria.

Viterra Human Resources Director Ben Norman says a variety of positions are available to suit a range of people and experience.

“A harvest job is a hands on role which gives people the opportunity to learn new skills, work in a team based environment, and provides a potential career path in our diverse business,” Ben says.

“Our company provides a great avenue for young people that want to learn new skills, travellers looking to earn money while seeing the country, semi-retirees looking for something different, or those between jobs seeking short-term work.

“We receive positive feedback from employees about harvest work and approximately 40 per cent return for multiple harvests while some also have the opportunity to stay on with the business once harvest is complete.

“No experience is necessary. We provide all training required for the various roles which include general grain handling, bunker operations, weighbridge operations and grain classification.

“We also provide accommodation assistance for some of our remote sites.”

Ben says harvest workers are crucial in ensuring Viterra delivers a smooth experience for growers at harvest.

“Viterra is focused on providing a safe and efficient grain storage and handling service to growers and increasing our workforce during harvest helps us do this.”
