Most Lambs back $5-$8 at Bendigo

Lambs - 18,750 (+1150).

Sheep - 14,560 (+4660).

Lamb numbers were up slightly at Bendigo this week with 18,750 yarded. The quality was again mostly good, with more first draft lots from the South and South East areas penned. Several drafts were starting to show dryness in the skins. The usual buying group were in attendance and operating in an easier market, with most lambs back from $5 to $8/head on last week. The best of the heavy and extra heavy lambs sold close to firm. Extra heavy young lambs reached $228, with the general run of medium and heavy trade weight lambs selling from $155 to $194/head, to average around 705c/kg cwt. Restockers from Horsham and local areas were active and paid from $127 to $156, they paid from $72 to $117/head for lighter lots. Shorn young lambs returned to the paddock from $131 to $139/head.

Light weight 2 score lambs, 12-18kg, sold from $97 to $141/head. Light trade 2-3 score lambs, 18-22 kg, sold from $136 to $161/head and averaged around 715c/kg cwt. Medium trade weight lambs, 22-24kg, sold from $155 to $177/head and made from 650 to 725c to average around 710c/kg cwt. Heavy 3-4 score trade weight lambs, 24-26 kg, sold from $175 to $194/head and averaged around 705c/kg cwt. Heavyyoung lambs 26-30kg sold from $189 to $207/head and averaged around 700c/kg cwt. Extra heavy export weight young lambs sold from $221 to $228/head. Shorn old lambs sold to $208/head. Light trade weight Merino lambs sold from $116 to $124/head, with the 20kg plus Merino lambs selling from $144 to $155/head. Crossbred hoggets sold to $180, with Merino hoggets selling at $162.50/head.

There were 14,560 sheep yarded, that's up around 4,600 on last week. The quality was again very good, with plenty of weight through the yarding. The usual buying group were in attendance and operating keenly for another strong result. Heavy Merino wethers sold to $245, and heavy crossbred ewes sold to $226/head. Sheep mostly sold around last week's levels, with the heavy Merino wethers lifting $10 to $15/headon last week. Light weight 2 score sheep sold from $63 to $112/head to average around 555c/kg cwt. Medium weight 2 and 3 score sheep sold from $98 to $160/head and made from 510c to 620c, with the Merino mutton averaging around 600c/kg cwt. Heavy Merino ewes sold from $148 to $220, heavy Merino wethers sold from $158 to $245, with the medium weights sold from $108 to $146/head. The heavy Merinosheep averaged from 600c to 605c/kg cwt. Heavy crossbred ewes sold from $134 to $226/head and averaged around 550c/kg cwt. Rams sold from $65 to $136/head.
