GrainGrowers call for groups to apply for partnership funding

National grain farmers representative body, GrainGrowers, today called on grain farming systems groups to apply for funding to advance their efforts on behalf of growers in 2018/2019.

Applications open today for the GrainGrowers 2018-2019 Partnership Opportunity.

GrainGrowers Regional Coordinator David Evans said that for many years GrainGrowers had provided financial and in kind support to regional farming systems groups across Australia – and this year was no exception.

“Farming systems groups are every year producing some amazing results in research trials and extension across the diverse grain growing regions across Australia,” said Mr Evans.

“They are providing practical solutions to agronomic and farm management problems experienced by growers on-farm in producing Australia’s national grain crop. For example, this season’s prolonged dry period in many grain growing regions has demonstrated the importance of trialing varieties and farm management practices which ensure the most can be made of available soil moisture.

“More importantly than yield alone, these groups are focussed on improving farmers’ business bottom lines and driving farm profitability. GrainGrowers is proud to have the opportunity to assist these groups to meet their goals.”

Farming systems groups are invited to submit an application form available from the GrainGrowers’ website: http://www.graingrowers.com.au/about/partnerships

“We invite the groups to discuss their proposal with their local GrainGrowers Regional Coordinator (details below) before submitting the application, to ensure project criteria are met,” said Mr Evans.

GrainGrowers’ vision is to develop and promote a more efficient, sustainable, and profitable grains industry for all Australian grain farmers, he said.

“Supporting farming systems groups to carry out local research trials and to effectively extend these results to growers is an important part of achieving this vision and we welcome the chance to be involved.

"We thank all groups in advance for considering GrainGrowers as a potential partner.”

Applications for GrainGrowers 2018-2019 Partnership Opportunity close at 5 pm AWST Friday 29 June.
